heart-written

heart-written is an interactive audio-visual experience that explores writing and poetry of Iranian writer Hengameh Akbarnezhad. Her writings deal with nostalgia for what could be once, or unrealized love that failed to exist. In most of her writings, themes of homesickness, longing, and an introspective emotional analysis of her idea of love are present. This work is an homage to my mother, for it is a deep investigation into the lesser-seen angles of our relationship.

This interactive work allows the audience to engage with her writings and play with the imagined synthesizer that give a sonic life to her writings. All of the writing-poems are written in Farsi and a visualizer has been developed accompanied with English translations to allow the English-speaking audience also understand the texts.

The installation's core is a custom-designed digital synthesizer that translates poetic rhythm and emotion into sound. This interactive work allows the audience to engage with her writings and play with the imagined synthesizer. The technical architecture integrates custom software built in Hydra-Synth for visual processing, Max/MSP for sound synthesis, and a MIDI interface for tangible interaction. This combination allows for seamless real-time processing while maintaining the organic, intimate feel essential to the work's themes.
